Good Riddance
Donation Box Terms & Conditions
By placing items in a Good Riddance donation box, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before donating.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By depositing any item into a Good Riddance donation box, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions in their entirety. If you do not agree, please do not place items in the box.
2. Acceptance and Disposition of Items
Good Riddance Holdings, LLC ("Good Riddance") reserves the sole and absolute right to determine, in its discretion, whether any donated item is suitable for redistribution to a nonprofit partner. Items that are damaged, unsanitary, unsafe, not in working order, or otherwise deemed unsuitable for donation may be disposed of by Good Riddance without notice, including by discarding them. Placement of an item in a Good Riddance box does not guarantee that the item will be donated to or received by any nonprofit organization.
3. Prohibited Items
The following items must not be placed in Good Riddance boxes. Good Riddance may dispose of any prohibited item without notice:
- Hazardous, flammable, or toxic materials
- Items that are recalled, broken, soiled, or known to be unsafe for use
- Perishables or liquids
- Firearms, weapons, or ammunition
- Prescription medications or controlled substances
- Items containing personal data or identifying information (e.g., hard drives, unlocked phones)
- Commercial inventory intended for resale
- Furniture, rugs, or oversized items not designed for box drop-off
4. Donation Receipts and Tax Documentation
Good Riddance is not a nonprofit organization and does not issue tax receipts or donation acknowledgment letters. Any tax receipt or acknowledgment for donated items is solely the responsibility of the receiving nonprofit partner, if and when one is issued. Good Riddance will pass along any such receipt provided by a nonprofit to the best of its ability, but makes no guarantee that a receipt will be issued or delivered. Donors seeking a tax deduction should consult a qualified tax advisor.
5. No Right of Retrieval
Once an item is placed in a Good Riddance box, it is considered an irrevocable donation. Good Riddance will make reasonable efforts to honor retrieval requests made promptly and before an item has been collected or redistributed, but cannot guarantee the return of any item. Good Riddance shall have no liability for the inability to retrieve any donated item, and donors expressly waive any claim arising from the failure to return a donated item.
6. Third-Party Removal of Items
Good Riddance is not responsible for items removed from a donation box by any third party prior to collection, including other building residents, visitors, or unauthorized individuals. Good Riddance makes no representations regarding the security of items placed in its donation boxes and shall not be liable for any loss, theft, or damage occurring after an item is deposited.
7. Donor Representations
By donating, you represent and warrant that: (a) you are the lawful owner of the donated item or are otherwise authorized to donate it; (b) the item is not subject to any lien, security interest, or third-party claim; (c) the item is personal property and not commercial inventory intended for resale; and (d) the item does not constitute a prohibited item as described in Section 3.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Good Riddance, its members, officers, agents, and contractors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of or related to the donation of items, including but not limited to the disposition, loss, damage, or non-delivery of donated items. Your sole remedy for any dissatisfaction with Good Riddance's handling of donations is to refrain from future donations.
9. Changes to These Terms
Good Riddance reserves the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. The most current version will be posted at goodriddance.co. Continued use of Good Riddance donation boxes constitutes acceptance of any revised terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law principles.
